I can't get the damn harmonic balancer off. I have a puller but the motor just keeps turning. Do I have to remove the center nut cause someone said it stays on and someone said it comes off? Any tips?

If the motor is turning, set the parking brake, put the car in gear, and then try to remove the bolt. Yes, the bolt comes out.

 

The crank bolt (the "center" bolt) holds the harmonic balancer on--so, you've got to remove it to get the balance off...

 

No the bolt comes out !! Use a impact wrench, I took a 5 pound hammer and hit the braker bar leave the belt on when you do this. You can also dothis to thealternator.

 

Yeah I got the center nut out by using a peice of pipe on the wrench and had someone hold the pulley. My problem now is the damn bolt on the power steering pump pulley is rounded!! Damn heads would be off already!

 

Craftsman "Bolt-Out" set, they aren't cheap but they're worth every penny when you need them...
