You can get a ford truck rearend with 31 splines and beat the hell out of it day in and day out. You can find them for 100 to 200 bucks.

I'm not sure about the axles themselves but a 8.8 31 spline traction lok out of a Ford truck will work fine (if you use 31 spline axles of course). However the traction lok differential uses clutches that will wear out over time - especially with hard launches, driving, etc. Whereas the Truetrac not only offers better traction, but uses no clutches, and therefore never has to be rebuilt, or maintanced besides changing rear-end fluid.
