98 gt
Looking to get my first stang soon. I just turned 17 so my options are limited. I am prolly going to have to get a 96-98 mustang gt. Is it true that the 98 had more horsepower. Also how reliable are these cars? Is it oky to buy with 70-80k miles?
Thanks

RE: 98 gt
You are right the 98s have more hp vs. the 96 and 97s. At this point, you may want to look at a 99+ because they have the PI components that add even more hp. On the flip side, 96-98 GTs are much sexier than their 99+ counterparts...(of course I am biased hahahaha)

RE: 98 gt
he said his options are limited.
if you are able to spend the extra money though, go with a 99+
if you cant spend that much, get a 98.
my old one was a 98 and it had some work done to it, and it would blow stock 99-04's away.
the stock 98's are very restrictive though if you dont do anything to them.
do a search on PI heads cams and intake and read all about it before you make your decision on which car you want.

To answer your question yes it is ok to buy the car with those kind of miles. My car has 160K on the clock and I know for a fact that 70K was hard driven miles. These cars are reliable, as would be any car that is well maintained. You'll get the car, and you'll love it. Let us know what you do. Whatever it is.
