I have a 03 gt with 4.30s and a supercharger and I get 18 mpg. So 4.10 without a supercharger should be about 20 mpg I would think.

ORIGINAL: allblack02GTi drive 25 miles a day 5 days a week on the freeway..and i have an 02 gt..but i want the "flying back in ur seat feeling" so 3.73 or 4.10 ?
What tranny and do the math!
I have an automatic and 4.10's. Reduction in OD is 70% of the final, 4.10's so it is like having 2.87's. Still with tires that have a diameter of 25.7" the engine turns 2500rpm's at 65mph and is nearly at 3000 at 80mph as the engine turns 26.5mph/1000 rpm in OD. Same can be applied to you. List the tranny, have someone give the OD ratio and we can do calculations. To the htread starter you should not have excessive noise unless the gears were not installed properly. Some extra due to the gears simply turning quicker, a little. Also did you use the heavier 140 weight oil? Mark

i got the 3.73s and i am glad... 75 on the hwy is loud and annoying.....2600 rpms.............

i have to go about 69 now i am glad i did not get 4.10s for my 50 miles on the hwy everyday
I appreciate your candor on this topic, how did this affect your fuel economy? I'd like to get 3.73s, however I drive 500 to 750+ miles per week (currently at a consistent 23.5 MPG, with a 93 Octane tune). Each lost MPG will cost me about $2.50 a week, which isn't a big deal if we're looking at 1-2, even 3 MPG, but after that it starts to mount up to $500+ per year...
will post in about a day when i run low

People forget that the T-45 has a different final gear compared to the 3650.

3.73s ina T-45 will almost exactly equal 4.10s in a 3650 in 5th gear.
You are so wise grasshoppa. What's more important, MPG or
putting someone's front end in your rearview mirror? You've got the best avatar. [sm=hail.gif]

why are you concerned about MPG when you're talking about running gears and blowers and what not? you want MPG, buy a neon.

but anyway, i got 23MPG with my car before the block. now i get about 20 on the highway.

If i'm lucky enough to get a whole tank's worth of highway miles my car will manage 22mpg. Otherwise where I live is so stop and go that it makes every car look like gas hogs.

Oh and i have 4.10's

so let me clear this up a little i confused T-45 are in the 99 thru early 01 and the 3650 is in the 01.5 to 04 and having 3.73s in a 99 is like putting 4.10s in an 04 so if you put 4.10s in a 99 it will be more of a push in your seat that if you put them in an 04 is this correct and is there any diff with having the 4.10s in a 99 auto to having them in a 99 manual
