I don't know the exact temperature but the needle on the factory gauge points strait up when the cars been run hard for an extended period of time. If ran normally the needle will be almost pointing strait up with a small lean back toward cool.

That's where mine is too. Does it help the engine any if it runs cooler? A co-worker said he put a 160 degree thermostat on his car so it stays below 160.

So 180 is a good temperature for the car to be running at? It looks like it helps reduce wear and tear on the engine, improve performance and gas mileage. Is this true?

haha. the gauges on the stang stock are practically painted on. there was a cobra at the shop that had the temp reading to be fine, but that thing was burnin the hell up. gogo ford!
