Default 347 or 351 swap

Hey hopefully someone will be able to give me a little info. What mods must be done to put a small block pushrod motor like a 347 or 351 in my 00 GT. I cant find any conversion kits or anything but I'm not sure why not. Better yet, anyone ever tried a SBC motor in a mustang?

You can put a SB 5.0 or 5.8 in our new edge mustangs. Never heard of a Saleen S351 http://www.stangbangers.com/99_Salee...51_Article.htm Not too many people do it, I have seen mostly dragsters in magazines do it. But its alot cheaper to mod. I like the newer technology of DOHC versus just old fashion pushrod like dodge and chevy. And yes you can put a SBC in a ford, I have seen many of them in fox bodys. And basicly the 79-04 is the same chassis.

Ouch man, double post! ^^^

I've been thinking about that myself. I would really like to put a Ford GT crate engine in. I think it would be really cool to have that as a drag car. Just tear out the interior, lighten up the body, change motor mounts, tranny, rear end, beef up the suspension and some other stuff. That would be sickk.

Yeah man it sucks, somethings wrong with my computer and this forum it happens too much...

Well that woould be sick but when you find out the price tag of that motor you will probably change your mind. http://karkraft.com/new_engines.htm Theres one on there for $37,000 and a Aston Marton V12 for $39000 Id go for the V12 at that price. Also you would need to modify the block to accept a starter if you are mounting the engine in the front.

well aixtreme...you've made the elusive triple post

all you need is a k-member (might as well go tubular) for a 94-95 mustang and you'll be set, just get a stand alone fuel system or ecu from a 87(?)-92 mustang (whenever they went from speed density to maf) and tune it as you need to. some road racers go to this set up for simplicity and weight savings as it weighs less than the ohc motors. Headers for a 94-95 should complete the swap
As for a red headed step child of a ford...PA racing makes these devil-mounts http://paracing.com/product_info.php...f663dd1fea4059lol im jk with ya...it be something different

Hey man, I have tried to find weights of motors and components. Im looking to take as much weight off the front to get as close to 50/50 weight distribution as possible. So I bought a used 4v with a teksid block, im going to get that rebuilt and that saves 80lbs. off the iron block... But do you know how much a 5.0, 4.6 2v and 4.6 4v weighs? I might as well go with a cheaper 5.0
