Not that I'd ever want one that was automatic,
You say it like it's a bad thing!

It's not a simple swap, but I've seen it done. The 4r70e (or 4r75e)tranny can be built to withstand 1000 crank hp.

The hard part is that you need a new wiring harness to put that tranny in a Cobra. The Cobra computer has thepins to talk to the tranny, but you need a tuner who knows how to enable them, or you can go with the Mach 1 computer (sucks for tuning).

I had my GT harness modified to connect to a Cobra motor and built 4r75e tranny
Do you mean 4R70W? I see your sig says the same thing. Is that a different tranny?

Ahh now I wish I took a picture. It wasn't just a GT with a Cobra front, it had everything Cobra down to the seats, wheels, bumper, exhuast, hood, etc. If you have enough money you could do anything to a car, so maybe it was an auto swap. The person driving was a large lady who looked like she was driving a Hyundia Sonata by her driving stance haha. Oh and it was a damn shame because the car was flithy, if I had a Terminator I'd keep it clean always.

Sssang, There is nothing wrong with an automatic, I just feel that a sports car should be manual, they are MUCH more fun to drive IMO. Nothing like having complete control of the car and banging away at the gears on a long stretch of road while chirping the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts!

I know what ya mean. Sometimes I wish my car was manual, but other times I'm glad I have an auto. It should be pretty fun once I get a stall!

There are a couple of guys from Mid-Atlantic Cobra Assoc. that have switched to automatics. They also have switched to a solid axle. It's an expensive swap. bu the reasoning is you won't burn up clutches, and the solid axle is almost bulletproof. I have seen the up close and personal and most of they are over 600 hp easily.

Thanks. "e" was a typo in both places. 4R70W is correct

There's nothing like spinning all the way through 3 rd gear and finally hooking in fourth!

WOW! You know, I don't ever want to drive a Terminator because I would fall in love with it and sell everything I own just to have one. And about the spinning in third, that's nuts! Probably all that power, but also it's probably tough to hook up because of the IRS, isn't it? I think my stock GT is fairly quick., and was suprised to see I could chirp the tires on the 2-3 shift. 1-2 shift easy, but 2-3? I must have a factory beast haha.

a couple of dead give aways is the exhaust... like if you look at my exhaust you can see how it comes out of the sides because of the IRS...

See.. this is probably the best way to tell if it's a 99+ Cobra. To have the full cobra kit, plus the IRS, is a stretch... If it had this type of exhaust - its probably an aftermarket auto Cobra. There are A LOT of guys that do it.. especially the ones with 700+rwhp, because its easier to drive on the track, and daily driven because of a heavy clutch...

You don't need a clutch to spin the tires on the 1-2 ans 2-3 shifts At WOT my third gear hits just above 70 mph, an I spin 'em big time... even with fairly sticky tires (275/40R17 Toyo Proxes T1-S)
