Gear Grinding
Since i got no responses before...
How do you go about getting it fixed, i am approaching the 36,000 mile limit and i;ve noticed some "notchy" shifting from 1-2, 2-3.
Also, my clutch is making a noise when i push it down fast when accelerating hard... it started to do this after i got my gears put in. I'm thinking the dip ****s that installed them did some joy riding in my car?
the noise is a spungy sounding noise, any ideas?
thanks

Hmmm... Well there isnt a RECALL on this problem, but there is a TSB. If you have less than 36k, bring it in and have youre dealership rebuild youre trans. The TSB says: Some 2001-2003 Mustang vehicles, equipped with TR3650 5 speed manual transmission may exhibit a clash noise and/or a raspy (rough) feel on gear engagement during 1-2 or 2-3 shifts. The transmission may also exhibit a jump-out from 2nd and/or 3rd gear. The condition may be more pronounced when the transmission is colder than 40° F (5° C). TSB #04-15-06. I hope this helps.

you might want to change your rear end gear oil to synthetic also. But a bearing seems like the problems to me as well. Joe had the same problem once he put his gears in, so that is exactly what he did.
Actually the spongy noise is the cable quadrent rubbing on something. One of the guys here about two months ago had the exact same problem (just as I do) and he found it. You have to do a search to find it but its here. I need to fix mine but it isnt top of my priorities right now.
