Jackstand
I'm needing to loosen up one of the clamps on my exhaust and I'd like to jack it up just a little bit at the rear. Where is a good place to put the jack at if I'm doing this? Just wondering where u guys would jack yours up at.
Don't jack up the pumpkin (I am assuming you mean the differential) it puts stress on the points where it connects to the axle tubes and drive shaft (I did it a load of times and found out I should not have been doing it [:'(] on this forum, a mechanic confirmed the same to me - it makes sense if you look at what is above the differential to support the weight - nothing!). The pic below shows the safe places to jack up and support the stang, it was posted a few days ago by someone, cant locate the post to thank them, but here it is anyway...

Honestly, there is no good way to get the back up. When I put my exhaust on my car I just said screw it and jacked it up at the pumpkin. I'd rather not have to do that again but I didn't have much of a choice at the time. The only other way to get it up is to jack both sides up at the same time. You could drive it up ramps as well if the weight being on the suspension is ok.
I CAREFULLY jacked up the rear real high with the place on the edge of the body. I think it is the place where the spare jack goes if you get a flat. then i throw the jackstand underneath the subframe with a HUGE block of wood made from 5 cuts of 2x10. Can't be too safe, especially when your car is lowered. I can't get my jack under the car except on the rear points in front of the rear tires. I needa shorter jack!
