weird noise from rear

weird noise from rear
This has been going on since I bought the car. I bought my 2001 GT with all the mods already done to it. Under an EXTREMELY light load, foot barely touching the pedal, not even enough to really really accelerate and in a higher gear at a low speed I hear this high pitched "womp womp womp womp" coming from the rear of my car. I cant really describe it other than that. Its more noticeable at a low mph and low rpm in a higher gear, like around town when I'm cruising around at 40 mph in 5th gear. Its usually in 5th gear. More noticeable in higher gears/lower rpm's when my engine isn't as loud. Can anyone help??

hard to really tell by your description but your drive shaft might be out of balance! Most machine places can rebalance them for like $40
Does the womp as you describe sound like a musical bass wave???

Yea sorta like a bass wave. Do you think it could have anything to do with my 4.10's ??

I just thought of something???? Check your passenger side muffler if you have an afternmarket set-up and see if it's making contact with the driveshaft! My flowmaster set-up was about 1/4" away from the driveshaft, but never had any issues??? Just a thought, but I would hope it was the driveshaft if I were you because to pull the pinion back out and put new spacers in it is like paying for a complete gear install!

The guy that installed my gears said that 4.10s up may make some noise at any given time. He claims it's nearly impossible to have a totally quiet gear that steep. My gears make a slight noise at that rpm also. It could be exhaust drone too.

Hmmm, I dunno about exhaust drone, I can definitely tell when its droning. But its something else. I'll have to check that drive shaft, thanks for the help everyone. Again, but its not so much a grrrr ggrrrrr grrrrr, its more like a higher pitched and steady womp womp womp womp womp and it is really only heard under an EXTREMELY light load in a higher gear at low speeds. If anyone else has comments it is appreciated also. Its REALLy annoying, I hope I can fix this.
Where would I take it to get my driveshaft balanced?? Also, if I took it to shop would someone be able to really figure it out?
