Default What Compression Dish Piston for 10lbs Boost?

What final compression dished pistons should I use for a s/c'd 2V getting about 10-11 lbs of boost? I have PI heads. Also, who / where is the best bang for the buck on pistons; JE, Daimond, CP, others?

Why would you build the engine witha aftermarket shortblockand run 10 PSI?

If you only want to run 10 PSI, just buy a stock shortblock (assuming yours is blown) or just leave your stocker in there if its ok. You can run 10 PSI all day long on the stock stuff (I should know lol).

That's not correct. Stock internals will not handle over 450hp at the most.

10 psi on a stock car or even one with a few bolt ons more than likely wont be pushing more than 450hp. so with that said you would think 10 psi would be safe.

Its a good thing then that 10 PSI isn't gonna make 450+ WHP then eh?

With a stock top end your not gonna get past 450 WHP with a safe tune... and if you have a built top end once again why would you want to only run 10 PSI?

I am currently making 10 PSI on a non intercooled SQ setup with stage 2 cams + boltons. Makes about 420 WHP on a ultra safe tune, no problems with the stock shortblock.

now what im wondering is why my motor went past 450rwhp with 12psi of boost at 6500rpms?? they say dont go over 450 rwhp for long, and not over 6100 rpms.. yet i did both and my motor lasted till i wanted to upgrade to a forged setup... i also am wondering... how do you expect to get 500+rwhp with a forged motor and 10 psi... without heads, cams... it wont happen... heads and cams with full bolt ons... i see it going down..

and lets just say i was over 500 crank hp on stock internals.. more like 550ish. and no problems.. and i ragged the hell out of it.. your tuner must have leaned the **** out of your car to make it blow so quickly..

but to answer your question now, i would reccomend some forged manley pistons with a 18-23 cc dish... an 18cc dish should give you about 9.0 compression while the 23cc gives you 8.5:1. i am running the 18 cc and will be pushing over 15psi of boost safely
