RE: winter
Just put a couple of sand bags in the trunk, it helps quite a bit. I also keep some gravel/rocks just in case I stuck it helps to give me traction. Stay on the main roads and off the side streets as much as you can. I only got stuck once this year, (in front of my house) [:-]

For me, it's just getting out of the driveway/side street. It is uphill, and has a huge bump (where it goes from gravel to concrete). When my car hits the bump on the hill, it loses traction and starts spinning. If I know it's going to snow in advance, I can get it out before it happens, but not always.

Luckily, we've only had a few snow storms in NY this winter, but there were a bitch to drive in...It's actually parking that's the problem, cause the sanitation dept. plows the snow to the right side of the street and buries your car...I've needed help on a couple of occasions this winter to move my car...
But if you have to drive, try to have at least one person with you if possible, cause most likely you will get stuck...but -no big deal, a little push and your free...

I hated the sanitation trucks.
Now I hate the street plow that plows me into my driveway.
Fortunately my neighbor has a farm and he plows everyone out with his frontloader.
I haven't needed it this year yet though.
FWIW I drove a RWD 92 Caprice up until a year ago, all year long.
You just have to learn what to do and what not to do in snow and put a couple of sandbags in the trunk.
Seriously the worst problem are the ******** in SUV's who buzz along at 65mp on the Long Island Expressway in the snow.
Usually they end up crashing.

I had to move my car with only the slightest bit of snow on the ground and it was a royal pain in the ***. Its hard when your used toall-wheel drivemost of the year.
