Default What todo? what to do?

Well my current ride is Well getting boring and starting to show her age.
(I'm driving a 98 Grand Prix GT)

And I want to buy a Mustang hopefully this summer. I'm looking into a 2000 to 2004 GT, perhaps a convertible.
I am was hoping for some feed back from you guys, Pro's and Con's.
What are should I be aware of before starting my search.
What are some good starting mod's for the GT, exhaust etc?

thanks guys

Cheers

I would go with the '02 and later models. There are differences in transmissions, waterpumps, and IAT sensors/maf.

Look for low mileage, of course. If you find one with mods, chances are it's been flogged. If you find one stock, you're probably much safer. Just examine everything closely to make sure they didn't swap the OEM parts back onto a previously modded car. As with any used car, try to find someone locally who knows cars, particularly mustangs, who can inspect it with you. Hell, one of us may be your neighbor.

Good luck

Sweet 02 or newer.

As for modding. How does the GT respond to headers. X an H pipe which is better. I was always under the impression that they are similar when it comes to HP gains. I have a hard-on for Side exhaust. Is there a better kit that doesn't have such a U-bend in the tail pipe in the side exhaust kits. What about air intake. Is there a better solution then the open cone under the hood, Perhaps an FWI.

cheers

Shawn

The GT does not respond that well to bolt ons. You will see some gain, but not like other cars see. The best way to get HP is forced induction.

Yah I heard that canvas top is expensive to repair/ replace. as far as Mod's go I think i'll stick to the basic exhaust and intake and tuning.
Should I be looking at headers for a GT or stay stock. I haven't completely made up my mind yet. My ultimate dream is to ****** up an 03-04 cobra But i feel its just not in the cards quite yetbut who knows

If your getting headers only get long tubes. shorties dont do anything. Actually IMO mustangs sound better with stock headers vs shortys also. But long tubes do show some nice gains, especially with forced induction. Your only way of beating a 03/04 cobra is to blow your stang

You should do long tube headers, but they are a bitch to install. The best and cheapest way to get hp out of the 2V is by using nitrous. There are several kits out there and you can run a 100 shot with no problems. If i were you here would be my mod list, in order: Cat-back, Gears(4.10s), Longtubes & midpipe, Throttle Body & Plenum. Thats for the basic boltons, and then you can decide if wanna go FI/NA/nitrous from there.
