I had 5% on mine and i got tickets all of the time legal limit in GA is 32%, so i just put 35% all the way around to avoid the typical $94-$130 fines.

did you buy the car with it on it??
Yes, I purchased the car in California from a guy who bought it new. The tint it factory tint from California (it's beautiful too, perfect cuts, no bubbles). His meter read 18% on it. I've had the car for 2 years now, been pulled over 4 times and haven't had any other cops point it out to me. Basically what I am trying to get at is I haven't had a warning for it and my personal thought is $100 is a little excessive for being the 1st time.
Don't go to court with that BS that the 18% is factory. No car maker is going to put that dark of tint on a car and the judge knows that and will just point you in the direction of the casher to pay the fine and tell you to remove the tint. Just remove it and bring the pics into court to try to get out of the ticket. Its free to remove.

get a doctors note, specifying that you have cataracts and tint is essential for your safe driving abilities.

$100 is not that big of a fine. If they do lower it, what will they lower it to? $50? Then slap on that $30 court fee and you wasted a couple hours out of your day to save around $20. Also if you roll up to the court with your still tinted stang, you might get slapped with another one hehe.

I'm going to go with this. My older brother did the same thing and I guess whenever he got pulled over for it he would just present that. I appreciate everyone else's input.

Hope your dad or best friend is a doctor. If not post up how long a doctor laughs at you for asking him to do that.

In MA tint violations are moving violations so they count against insurance.

You really have no grounds to fight it as the factory doesn't offer tinting on Mustangs like that. Even if you purchased the car like such, ultimately it is your responsibility to abide by the laws, you can't plead ignorant to them, ya know?

I got hammered for the same thing. I WAS ignorant to the law & purchased my GT with 10% tint on it, got ticketed, insurance got jacked& the courts told me to learn the laws. Needless to say I got the dealership to cover my ticket & also my $580 dollar surcharge...

its your responsibility to learn the rules/laws in the state you live so because the car is from out of state doesn't make you exempt but if you go to court and play stupid and pretend you know nothing about tint% you might be able to get them to reduce it or switch it to a warning.
