I know there are a lot of different factors in this but my car is comming up on 100,000 miles. About how long do our engines last under general driving(not babing the motor, but not completly beating it either) with regular maintenance being done. Also what is bound do go first?

I've seen the 4.6 in a Crown Vic that was a taxi cab have over 400k on it. We have it in school now, and converted it to CNG (compressed natural gas). It was driven so much the rubber on the steering wheel was worn down to the metal center.

With proper fluid changes, (oil, antifreeze ) filter changes, not beating on it too much, These Ford V8s should go 300,000 no problem. Clutch, fuel pump, transmission, alternator, starter, water pump, AC won't go that long. These items usually give some warning before the fail.
