Default Crazy question about an explorer rear axle

Ok... i have recently discovered that my mom's ford explorer 03 has a 31 spline axle in it with a 3.55 gear in it. I know this is a outlandish question but will the whole solid axle swap into mine (03 mustang gt). Are the axle lengths the same? Because if this is true it will save me a ton of money. Itjust seems to good to be true! Any ideas.

The axles are differnet lengths.

You can swap the carriers though, and then just get some 31 spine axles and save yourself some dough. Obviously you can't do it with your moms though, as she would need new 28 splines in the correct length (which you cannot get).

You wanna tear your moms '03 Exploder apart for a set of 3:55's???? Anyone that has 3:55's I doubt they will need 31 spline axles. You only need them for slicks with some descent modded power upgrades! I would have to shoot you if I was her..lol But they are diff. lenthgs anyways. I believe the exploders are the same length as the pre 99 axles (1 inch shorter)

I believe the 03 Explorer axles are something like 1.5" longer, making your rear track a total of 3" too wide.. Or, just wide enough w/ a riced out widebody kit, and new brake mounting hardware.. j/k about the widebody and brakes..

I have an extra explorer rear end that I could sell or part out. It has 3.73 gears in it and I think it has the ford limited slip in it. I was going to use the gears out of it until my pops just decided he would finally contribute to the car project a little. lol Thanks pops!
