Default Gear improvments

I went to the track for the first time this year the other day and ran a 9.18 at 79 mph on a 1/8 mile. I did that when I didn't try to come out of the hole like a bat out of hell. I have a basically stock, except a K&N intake kit, 03 gt limited. I'm gettin all chrome bullit wheels with 315 sumitomo tires on the back just cause I'm on a budget. One, will those tires help me come out of the hole harder? I got245 40 17 now. I want 4.10's. Are 4.10's to much for an every day driver? What kind of time improvments could I expect? I would really appreciate some helpful feedback.

i would get the nitto 555r's in 315... with those and 4.10's... you may see a 8.7...

No, if you do not get 4.10's you will kick yourself later. 4.10s are not too much at all for a daily driver. I still get great gas milage and I would be disappointed if I had gone with another gear.

Sumitomos suck IMO. I have 285/35/18's on the rear, and get no traction. If you can swing it, get some better tires, but I completely understand the "on a budget" problem.

GET 4.10's. i used to think that 4.10s would be to much, iv drivin a stang with 3.73 3.90 and 4.10s...there is no comparison.

4.10's arent too much. And DEFINATELY dont forget about the tires. Single most important thing you can do for track times

My bfg drag radials were actually 20 bucks less per tire than the nittos, and they hook 10x better. They wont last as long though. I'd definetly go with 4.10's, I still get decent gas mileage with mine!
