Default Quick Tech Question

I will most likely have my motor done tonight. I am going to get the long tubes installed either later this week or next week. My question is, a frined of mine said that I can start my car with out headers on it just to check it. Is this bad? He also said I could drive it the 15 miles to get the LTs installed but I knew that was a bad idea. But can I start it just to check everything with no exhaust manifolds on?

It won't hurt anything to start the engine without headers. I wouldn't drive it though as without the O2 sensor feedback the car can't adjust the A/F or timing accordingly. Put it on a flatbed and have it taken to the shop. (not to mention it will be loud as helllll)

Yeah I was deff not gonna drive it. I'm gonna get it towed the 15 miles and pay the 90 bucks. I was just double checking to make sure I can start it without the headers just to see if I put **** back right or if my motor is going to go kaboom.

Just be sure to wear earplugs , keep the hood open, and don't rev it out.

I had a friend drive his car without his headers on. He drove it about 5 miles and it ended up shooting flames. It was a monte carlo and not a stang but after hearing that story I would never drive mine without the headers on.

If you dont have AAA I'drecommend spending the 90 on an AAA Plus membership for the year. They'll tow it for free (up to 100 miles) plus the other AAA benefits.

Ok so I can start it but not give it gas. It's only gonna be started for maybe 30 seconds to make sure I have everything right. I don't want the guys to put the LTs on and tell me my car blew up when they tried to start it lol. I'll get an exhaust clip when I get the car back with the LTs on. Thanks guys!
