I know how to drive stick but the reason I chose an auto is because I knew that I would have to drive my car through the winter for the first couple of years so it would be a lot easier to control with the conditions I had to deal with. Now that I've got a beater, I plan on selling my car and getting a manual whether it be a GT or Cobra for the fun part of it. I know what an auto can do to manuals but it's just not as involved as a manual is.

not necessarily, I think driving a 5 speed in the snow is a lot easier than an auto because you can control the rpms by short shifting and controling how much you spin around.

you should have had the auto's shift points firmed and a shift kit. That would make it as fun as most beaters with a standard.. then add a converter and your golden.

I had the handheld tuner setup and gears in it.. Still when you just sit there everyday and the car shifts for you it gets old.. I just think if its supposed to be a sports car then it should be a stick. Only reason I got the car is because a little over 2 years ago I got it for 12k with 40k miles on it and I couldn't pass that up.

(dirty voice): once you learn how to use a stick properly, you'll never go back.

I would have chosen a standard but i got too good of a deal on my car..... And it makes me laugh when people give me shi* for having an auto.... Then we race and they misshift and i beat a car that has 100s of more horsies than me [&:]...

And i consider a mustang as more of a muscle car ... not a sports car. And how many old muscle cars do you recall having standards? They ALL have autos

Consistency > .2s on the strip.... I have seen countless terminators convert to built autos...

Driving a manual car is so much more fun. I hate driving my dads auto Stang and my moms GTP. Nothing compares to driving my car. I have a friend who used to have a manual V6 but now has a Dakota R/T, he wishes he stillhad the manual V6 because it's more fun to drive. When I first got my car I had only drivin' stick a on 3 cars a couple times. The GT is so much different, easier in my opinion. I got used to driving it in about 3 days.

AUTO

my car is bone stock and I can spin 2nd gear no problem. I'm actually scared to death of 2nd when the car is going ***** out. I'm not a fan of going sideways at 50+ mph.

as for the stick vs auto debate. drive what you want. the Auto was a better selection for me at the time. I want a 4v cobra motor and 6 speed transmission, but until I find one for the right price, I'm sticking with auto.a 5 speed daily driver in traffic isn't worth the few moments of fun.

been there, done that, have the bigger left left to prove it.
