Default Auto Vs. Stick

Hey all,
im looking to get my first stang 01-04. I really dont want to deal with the agervation of driving a stick but like the performance. Lets say form a dig is a stick that much faster than a auto? Can u even chirp into 2nd with an auto? I want to make the best decision(stick or auto) and need your help to decide.

I have an auto with 295's in the rear and can chirp 2nd. It's nice not having to worry about shifting and being able to use my free hand to eat =P

Go for the manual. I was in the same boat as you, but I'm 16 years old and have never driven a manual. Theres nothing tiring or hassling with a manual, you get really used to it and it feels like second nature after a month or two.

Go with the manual. You will not regret it. Auto times are much different than manual times. You'd probably get a much better launch with auto, but your performance will be much better with a manual.

Plus, you can do burnouts, donuts, and you don't get tempted to fall asleep, or eat, or get on the phone. It really keeps your mind focused on the road and your driving. Much more fun too!

i can say in an auto yes you can chirp into second gear when i had my 98 v6 and i did something that sometimes isnt smart to do, well at least do a lot. i would manual shift my auto once i had it retuned, and yes it would chirp into second gear. with a good shift kit and a torque converter your auto can be pretty close to a manual. i would love to get an auto racing tranny

Stick are faster then stock autos, but if you build up your auto, new torque converter, valvebody, ect.. they are pretty fast

Stick will beat an auto "stock for stock"

Only after you've modded your car enough to be capable of doing the 1/4 in 11 secondsor lessdoes an auto become a better choice.

& stick isn't as boring as an auto

Stick is the only way to go unless you're constantly in heavy, heavy traffic. Otherwise, get a stick.
