02 issues??!??
There are two issues w/the car, it'sis an 02 GT, the first one is whenI pump gas in the car it always cuts off every gallon or so and I have to keep playing w/ the nozzle just to fuel up, the second issue is creaking in the front end especially when I turn from left tor right, My guess is a lower control arm or ball joint, anyone have a clue as to what's going on?, I'm bringing it back to the dealer but I just wan't some knowledge of the issues so they don't try and screw me over. Any help is appriciated thanks!
the gas pumping sounds like a simple problem of nozzle placement. If a little fuel splashes back on the nozzle, it will cause it to shut off. The squeaking is most likel from the steering rack bushings or lwr control arm bushings. Take some WD-40 and spray down the bushings one at a time. Drive it and if the squeaking stops then the last bushing to be sprayed is the problem. I know it sounds kinda shadetree-mechanic, bu i had the same problems with my 02 and that is how i found out.
i've heard about people having problems filling up before and it wasn't just fuel splashing back on the nozzle, it had something to do with the evap system but i'm not sure exactly. do a search and you should come up with a few things
My 04 had a squeaky front end when I bought it brand new. I took it to the dealer andit was the steering rack bushings. There was aTSB for them I believe..try taking it to your dealer and tell them about it. If they give you sh** , they are a relatively cheap part so you may want to consider changing them yourself. I don't think an 02 would have issues with a tie rod end or ball joint bushing, just seems like there wouldn't be enough miles on the car to cause that. As far as the fuel issue goes, mine is tricky sometimes. The nozzle can't be too far in or too far out... just gotta find the sweet spot
