Follow-up T-45 to T-56 swap
The swap was easy and I found it to be much easier than just pulling out an old T-45 and putting in a T-45 (removalable bell housing ftw).Things I needed for 2001 (late 2000 build) GT.
T-56 viper spec 6 speed
Drive shaft with matching spline yoke for the T-56
Cross member
Speedo cal box
primary wire.
After pulling out the T-45 I inspected the flywheel and cleaned it up a bit. I extended the speedo wiring by 3 feet (bit excessive), Pre ran the wiring for the reverse lock out. Installed new clutch bolted up tranny housing, installed starter. Installed the T-56, side note here, for my car I did not have to dent the transmission tunnel at all. After that I bolted in the cobra xmember and new driveshaft.
Reverse lockout- I ran the wire to the signal wire on the brake pedal. So basically when I want to shift into reverse I push the brake and it releases the lockout, very easy. You can either spice into the transmission wire or get a gm coolant sensor plug, any parts store on the rack.

RE: Follow-up T-45 to T-56 swap
So a cobra bell housing will bolt to an f body t56? My only concerns after the bell housing arethe input and out put shalves, the speedometer, will itwork on a ford? I would think they woud read the same way. so input shalves of the 2 t56's are the same i assume the output salves are as well, and i'm guessing they use the same gear or what ever to measure speed? anyone? thanks

The input spline is the same (10) so just get one to match your flywheel, unless you go to a cobra 11 inch, still regret not installing a 11 inch flywheel and clutch, that will be next.

Anyone? i thought i'd give this question one more shot, will an f body close ratio t56 bolt to a cobra bell housing? and will the spedo work for a ford?
