Their profits result in their number of customers--not what they charge for gasoline prices. It just so happens people prefer Exxon over places such as Shell or BP. Has nothing to do with what they charge as every gas station charges basically the same price per gallon.

The price of crude, IOW a barrel, goes up.
The refinery costs are the same, more or less, because they are already built and running.
People are driving less because of the price of gas.
We are now paying the highest price for gasoline, or close to it, in history.
Exxon just announced it's profits are a record levels.
What's wrong with this picture?
