Default oil filter install

Question for any experienced do-it-yourselfer with a 4.6L... I have an '02. Changed the oil for the first time today, using a K&N filter. It says on the filter to make 1 additional turn after contact. Using literally all my strength and rubber gloves I got about 2/3 turn, at which point only a wrench would be able to tighten it any further. Should this suffice? Or should I get in there with a wrench and turn it some more? So far there are no drips on the driveway, even after a drive around the block.

You are fine. You never tighten the filter with a wrench.

That should be fine like sprostang said. I usually tighten mine about a 1/4 turn more than I can tighten it manually.

+1
FWIW the reason you don't want it too tight is because the gasket will deform if you tighten it too tight.
I usually go as tight as I can by hand and then 1/8 - 1/4 turn with the wrench depending upon how drunk I am when
I am doing it......
Only kidding....
