Default Steering wheel & car shake

I have a '01 GTconvertible that I bought about 2 months ago. Lately i've noticed around 60-65 mph that the whole car starts shaking, even the steering wheel shakes a good bit. When I hit about 70 it smoothes out alot. I've already balanced the tires. One thing that I did notice today is that when I have my top down the car hardly shakes at all. But as soon as I put it up it starts right back again! I have also checked under the car (front & back) and the only thing that has caught my eye is on the front passenger side, it looks like the ball joint is leaking some grease. If anyone has any suggestions on what I should do please let me know.

jack ur car up and take off the front wheels. disconnect your outer tie rods from the steering knuckle and see if there is play in the ball joints that way. and while the tie rods are off the inners should be very stiff if there loose at all replace them. same with the outters thats the best way to look. thats how i tightened my steering. had a inner tie rod that was very hard to diagnose until i took off the outer tie rods from the knuckle. good luck let me know how u make out.
