Rear End Question
My T-Lok hasnt been working properly for the past month or so now. I was gonna change the rear end fluid to see if that helps it. My question is, what is the best gear lube to put in there? Im pretty surethe viscosity rating recommended is 75W-140 if i remember correctly. I was thinking about going out and buy mobil 1. Has anyone ever used this before and if so is it good stuff? I read that it has friction modifier already mixed into it too. So does this mean I wont have to add that seperately? And finally, is high temp RTV silicon good for sealing the rear back up. I have a tube that i used when i installed my short throw and I dont wanna put it to waste. Any other information or recommendations are also welcome.
changing the fluid should get you by for a while, but you'll eventually need a rebuild. if the bottlle says it has friction modifier already pre-mixed you should be good to go but i would still get a seperate bottle just in case you get some chatter.
to seal the rear back up, i only use RTV. just make sure you clean the mating surfaces well so you don't get any leaks
