Default Mustang differentials

Hi

I have a 01 Mustang Gt and was wanting to know how good the 8.8 rear differentials that come with our cars from factory are. I am starting to goto the track and am wanting to know if I should get a brand new differential along with 4.10's, and 31 spline axles. I was looking at Torsen t2r Diff's and was wanting to know if these are good differentials.

http://www.on-trackperformance.com/Torsent-2R.htm

Are there better differentials? Does the stock rear end perform just as good as these for drag racing? What things will I need to change my stock Gt rear end to a 31 spline, 4.10 geared, high performing diffed car? (What gaskets and hidden parts will I need)

well i can say with my 01 GT i ripped my axle housing out of the pumpkin...but everyone said im probably the only person ever to do that sooooooo i wouldnt worry about that....also i am in the process of putting in my 4.10's everyone says they are awesome. just have to know how to launch with them and good tires or your times will suck..but ya they are preety strong from what i know...but ya any stock rear end on any car will break when to much **** is applied if u want something that wont break ya get axles. gears. better drive shaft all that stuff...

The 8.8 is a very solid rear end, but I would upgrade to an Eaton posi and some Moser axles.

Hey thanks

I heard that Torsen tr2's are the best diffs you can buy for a mustang what do you guys think about this brand. I know you have your own dragster and know more about whats out there then me. Is there any performance different switching out diffs or are they just stronger?

Thanks for posting fellas

So if I go with a eaton 31 spline differential with moser 31 spline axels they will work with a ford racing aluminum driveshaft on my Gt?

So far my shopping list is :

Ford Racing Aluminum drive Shaft
Ford Racing Driveshaft Safety loop
Eaton Posi with 4.10's (Is this the right one?)

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=sku

Moser axles
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=sku

Ford racing Differential Cover

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=sku

4 Quarts of Royal Purple gear lube

That should be it for a pretty nice rear end setup right? Is there anything else I need or got wrong?
