Buying some gears probably tonight. Summit is open till 9 and I was going to drive down and get them. The FRPP 3.73s have 41 pinion teeth:

And the way cheaper Summit Racing ones have 41 Ring teeth:

Are the Summit gears worth a crap? Is it better to have more pinion teeth or ring teeth? $50 difference here. Thanks!

i would go with ford racing gears, i hear its more of a pain with any other brand, shims are different or something like that

First off....thats a misprint on the 41 pinion teeth...as the gears numbers go up (usually)pinion teeth tend to go down.......But,,,with less teeth on the pinion doesn't nessarly make them weaker......I'm not sure about Summits but jegs brand are actually Motive gear sets....I Pulled the Jegs sticker off to reveil a motive number....And have heard some FRPP gear sets are motive also.....pick your poison....

Also looks like the FMS -(M)- m may be for Motive.....which if installed correctly ....are a fine gear.....

Dont want to take my chances whith cheap ****, buying the FRPP set.

It's a typo, if the pinion had 41 teeth the ring would have to be 152.93 for a 3.73 ratio and I don't know how you'd cut 0.93 of a hypoid gear tooth. [/align][/align]3.73s = 11 tooth pinion and a 41 tooth ring = 3.72727272727272...:1[/align]
