Default newbie needs info on gear

<FONT face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size=4>I just bought an 03 GT centennial edition. I work at the local Ford dealership. I am having 373 gears installed. What do I need to know about the switch? I know my performance will increase, but by how much (qtr mile and 0-60)? What do I need to have done to the speedo? </FONT></P>

<FONT face=Arial size=4>Thanks for you help<IMG height=31 src=smileys/smiley10.gif width=32 border="0"></FONT></P>

You could see a couple tenths & you will rip through 1st & 2nd gear fast.

I believe your MPH may drop also, I have no clue about the speedo..you wear them???? JK <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley17.gif border="0">

mph wont be affected much unless you plan on topping out. but it doesnt stop accelerating anywhere near slow. let me rephrase that...unless you're going rediculously fast, the difference in top speed shouldn't matter. but damn theres a kick and be prepared to get some bald tires unless you're conservative<IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">. you can squeal em in fourth any day of the week most likely. </P>

the speedo...it will be off. surely if a dealer is doing the work they'll recalibrate it...otherwise you'll need a "racing chip"(or whatever)to do it.</P><edited><editID>Jugador</editID><editDate>37860.0579976852</editDate></edited>

no chips. You'll have to get a reburn. There are a few people who make a programmer just to get the speedo calibrated, but best bet is to go with a power programmer. 300 bucks and you can tweak quite a few things.</P>

You'll shave a few tenths off 1/4 mile, a tenth or so off of 0-60. Top end is limited electronically much lower than aerodynamically so no loss there. MPG are more or less a push. Can run in a higher gear in traffic/city. My highway MPG dropped, but so far my city mileage has risen slightly</P>
