Default problem with a/c

i've got a 00 gt and not too sure about the a/c system cuz i had a muscle car before this and a street bike so it's kinda new to me.. ne ways car runs great and pulls strong but as soon as i turn on the a/c it almost surges if the rpms go above 1500... and the longer i drive the worse it gets... any ideas what could be wrong? any help would be appreciated!

Default RE: problem with a/c

It is normal to feel these cars "surge" when you turn on the AC. It is the compressor turning on. As it cools the car, it will cut off and cycle back on when the need arises (just like when you set your thermostat in your house to a certain temp, the AC cuts on and off to keep the temp at a certain point). If your AC is cycling every 10-15 seconds like mine was, then get the cycling switch checked out. Took the dealership 5 minutes to change mine and it fixed my problem. Just my 2 cents.
