upper intake vacuum question

Hey yall,i put a 3/8" steeda spacer on my '02 GT yesterday,and when i started it up i realized i left the vaccuum line on the back of the plenum unplugged (towards the firewall),well the thing is,besides surging,the car sounded like it had cams in it,so,because of boredom,i left it off,unplugged the TPS and IAC sensors,and set the idle screw so it smoothly idled,sounds awesome i have a vid if anyone wants to see it,but i was just wondering if anyone knows what this vacuum line is for? if it's not important i may just put a breather where the hose went

You don't adjust the idle screw either. Da_mn you are gonna have a mess. Sucks to be you.

I know the spacer doesn't do jack for performance,i got it because it was on sale from DM so i won't have to worry about clearance issues when my new plenum and VC's get here. The hose is back on,i was just wondering what it was for.
