Did you smell anything? To me sounds more like a cable issue or an adjuster issue.

Grinding while puttingit in gear is usaully a syncro problem, pedal falling to the ground is the clutch master cylinder giving out. Does the pedal still fall to the floor or does it feel like it has pressure behind it? ImoI think that you must have shaterred the **** out of one side of the clutch.
We don't have a clutch master cylinder. Our cars have clutch cables. I have had my clutch blow on me before and it sounds like a bad grinding but the clutch pedal was normal. Just last thursday I was pulling out of a parking spot and my clutch cable kinked on me and broke making my pedal go limp and the trans stuck in reverse. I had to turn the car off to get it from slamming into the car behind me. Have the shop check the clutch cable before anything. My bet is that it's the cable because the pedal went limp and like I said my pedal was fine after my clutch blew.

Yeah I think my LTs did my cable in too. I have to get the new cable away from the headers. Also on my friends GT his LTs melted his brake lines. I am going to a dealership and ordering the brake line heat shield that they gave my friend.

+1 on the clutch cable. The pop you heard was the cable snapping.

thanks for all the help guys, I heard back from the shop today and it was deffinately the clutch.

I was going to order a spec stage 1 or 2 clutch, but they recommened Zoom clutches instead. I havn't heard too much about them, are they any good?

Either way, i should have my car back tommorow or the next day, and my springs are going on while its there

Yeah when my clutch went I got the SPEC Stage 1 but if I had to do it again I would go with a Stage 2. I heard somewhere that a SPEC Stage 1 is still good on cars that run low 12s. When I am done school I am getting a TKO 500 or 600 anyway with a new motor.
