Default roll cages

this is something that I dont see come up in conversation too much, althought I think its worth discussion just for safety's sake if nothing else....

I'm probably about a month away from slapping on my KB and I've been tossing the idea around of getting a roll cage for a little added stability and safety.

I was thinking about something like this? : ---> http://www.steeda.com/products/roll_bars.php The four point bolt in roll bar ($249).

I dont take the car to the track ever....since I dont know of a track near me within a 2 hour drive (central CT here)...so i wouldnt need it to meet up with any tracks safety standards etc etc....

That being said, I do a lot of highway driving and love taking the girlfriend out for a spin, so getting a crazy cage that made the interior of my car useless is out of the question.....

do you guys think that getting a simple 4-point cage is worth it? or is it useless unless you go with a full-out racing cage? For those of you with them, how does it affect your daily driving/ride quality etc etc

and is it outta the question to install myself?

just wondering

why so? I'm very new to the idea of putting a cage in a DD, I just want to be as safe as possible with the added power. would a 6 point cage be more cumbersome for a DD? and any recommended manufacturers? I just know steedas stuff pretty well because I got a catalouge sittin next to me and a bunch of their suspension parts on my stang

It depends on how you drive. If you drive on the street like you would on a track, a roll cage probably won't help you.

If it's strictly a DDand you are concerned about controlling the vehicle with the additional power, you may wantto consider upgrading the suspension. If money is a concern, start off with just having full length subframe connectors installed (preferably welded). That in itself would make a difference in handling.

Default RE: roll cages

have the full length subframes.....as far as other suspension stuff......i have steeda sport springs, tokico 5 way adjustable shocks/struts, c/c plates, bumpsteer kit and as-of-yet uninstalled upper/lower rear control arms

was also thinkin of going a tubular front k-member/a-arms/coilover thing for handling....but that'd be way in the future.

money isnt too much of an issue, as ive graduated college, havetwogreat jobs, and while i have a girlfriend, im not married and have no mortgage to worry about lol.....however i dont want to **** money away....I just want to make my car handle as well as it accelerates....and if a roll cage would add some safety, then i think it would be worth it....

and as far as my driving habits, I do speed...who on here doesnt?....but I dont duck and weave at 120 like a lot of a$$holes around....I do a lot of highway driving at night/early morning so traffic is something i hardly see anyways.....when i do drive fast, its always stayin in one lane with few cars around (if any)....
