Spark Plug/Coil boot problem
hello,
yesterday, I actually got enough ***** to try and change out my spark plugs. Everything went great til I got to the last plug (in the rear on the exhaust side). While trying to remove the coil from the spark plug hole, the rubber boot that attaches to the inner coil spring was stuck so I was able to move the coil out of the way but now I can't get to the plug because of the rubber boot being in the way. I tried to manually wiggle the rubber boot free and pull on it but it won't budge. If I try any harder, Im afraid that I will rip the boot and make things worse. Does anyone have any ideas on how to work that boot free? I was thinking of spraying a littleWD down in the center hole of the rubber boot hoping that the liquid will work its way around the top of the spark plug to lossen up the boot?
btw, here's a tip if needed.... when first starting to change the plugs I discovered that the spark plugsocket does not always come out freely after tightening up the new plug. I went to kragen's and they have a 6"extension with a lock on it ($15.00). It locks the actual socket to the extension until you push the release button. Great idea and it works perfectly.
Thanks,
techsent
