md or jd i know you got something to say about this!
I agree with Dan02GT... As long as you match your engine and tranny speed then it wont do nearly the damage as if you were you go from 2000 rpms up to 5000 in the matter of seconds. Just give the gas a tap as you are letting out of the clutch and you will be good to go. Ive been doing it for about eight months and nothing has happened to my engine or tranny yet.

no he ment gas, if you push in the clutch and give it a little gas right before or as you let out the clutch the engine it already spinning faster. So if you let out the clutch and your engine is already spinning at the higher speed then there less wear on the clutch. Once you let out the clutch lay off the gas, if you do it right no one can tell you gave it gas.

p.s. there reall is no reason to downshift into first, you have to be goin reeeeally slow and if you goin like 10 miles an hour you prolly gunna need the breaks anyway. Plus it even said in the manual that if you downshift into first at over 30MPH damage to your clutch will occur blah blah blah. Just doesn't seem useful. I do downshift into second all the time.

well heres a question for everyone,

lets say youre doing about 45 in fifth gear we'll say

how bad is it if you want to pass (or just listen) either one, to downshift into fourth and let her go?

i can imagine if this is done all the time, or really unsmoothly it might casue some damage, but what does everyone else think?

(i want a new exhaust with some headers by the way so i can enjoy it even more than i do now)

Well when I had 3.27's I would go from 5th to 3rd to pass. Its not as bad to apply power to the clutch to pass as it it to tale off really hard as in drag racing. Now that I have 4.10's I rarely meed to downshift to pass. If I need to pass in a hurry I will throw it in fourth... but fifth is a really strong gear with 4.10's.
