stock air box removal?

Oh, and if u take off the airbox to expose the filter, make sure its at least a K&N.

if you remove the air box and leave the filter sitting in the engine bay, you will be sucking hot air in instead of cold air from the fender that you get with the stock air box. So leave the box on unless you have a heat shield for it.
I pulled my silencer off and gained like 1 mph. After i pulled it off completely i gained another mph. ButI also had something blockin the air to the K&N Filter. Yes it will help, but not so much if you arent blockin any of the heat

what did u have blocking it? i wonder what i could put in there so it can be like a heat shield....

When I installed my drop in k&n, I noticed I could just saw off all of the casing just leaving the ring in place under the clamp to hold the filter on. But I have not for the reason that the casing helps alot in keeping the filter cleaner.
