Knocking, Whinning problem in 5th gear only

Knocking, Whinning problem in 5th gear only
today around 60 mph in 5th i hear a small whine i can't tell where it's coming from..... also the motor has a small tap i can hear only with windows up. Also it will go into 5 really easy verse 1st-4th
anyone expierence this? is it getting time to croke?
