Default transmission switch

k i just bought a 97 gt which are supposed to come with the t-45 (?) but it has a t 5 on it.. the guy before might have killed his old one or somethin and replaced it with the cheaper t 5, but im just wonderin if i was to get a dohc instead of the sohc and threw a blower on it, would i want to upgrade to the t45 or the t3650? im worried about him replacing it cuz i got the carfor $3100 a couple weeks ago so im plannin on rebuilding the tranny anyway, so i just need to know if it would be better to just replace it.. any comments would be nice lol

A T5 won't bolt up to a 4.6. You have either the T45 or the 3650. If your planning on buying a tranny for FI use in the future then go with a TKO as the 45 or the 3650 are that strong. If your only two choices are between the 45 or the 3650 the go with the 3650.

well it might be the 3650 then is there a way you can tell? im pretty sure its a t5, but it makes sense that that wouldnt work since the engines are different.. but when i got it the rear transmission cone seal thing was bad so i had to replace it and the seal was bigger than the t45 by about a centimeter.. so yeah if there was a way to tell that would be cool cuz i know its not the original
