hood scoop needs to be functional
Thanks for all the info, I'll keep everyone posted on the "down-low" scoop design and cost.
Fallstar: I said the scoop theory was dead due to lack of clearance between the engine and the hood.
Got my windows tinted today, wonder how much h.p. that will give me.... [8D]

2. The clearance from the underside of the hood will NOT allow any routing of material so the scoop idea is dead.

If you say there isn't enough hood clearance then this would be out.
If you opened up the hood scoop, leave the honeycomb and just drill it would prolly be best. then rout a CAI (with filter, prolly need to be custom made, or maybe cut from a K&N flat 1?) straight into your current CAI just before the throttle body. I'm not sure if you have enough space and if the things line up correctly, but if it did you would effectivly add a 2nd CAI and get pretty close to everything you want. Couple this with the bumper air intake and your engine should be drowning in oxygen...if it works.
Personally I would just get an aftermarket CAI and stop there. 2 reasons for that, A: Putting custom mods onto an engine IMO is just asking for your custom mod to go out and cause lots of money in damage to the engine, and B: it doesn't look all that good normally to have custom built crap under your hood
.
BTW Welcome and good going on the window tint, prolly just put your car up into cobra territory with a single mod!

This idea completely neglects the MAM.

besides, there is hood under the hood scoop. drilling the honeycomb won't do anything except ruin a perfectly good scoop. [8D]
Okay, now I found the kit for $129, but that is about $109 too much. Right idea, but I want to make the inlet scoop cover at least 2 of the three openings above the bottom lip of the spoiler.

This might be easier than I thought, I already have a device in mind to use as an inlet scoop. I better go get some h.p. readings from the g-tech before I do this mod to see if all the typing (and moding) was worth it.

post those #'s for sure, I'm curious. And also, this might be a bad kind of "molesting" you are doing to your stang, it might grow up and kill you in your sleep!
