Default C/C Plate install, help

Ok, so I got the front springs/struts on, and have the c/c plates on, but there is quite a large amount of the strut sticking through the strut tower... Is it supposed to be that way? (MM 4 bolt c/c plates) There is actually such a large amount sticking through I'm not sure it wouldn't hit the hood when I closed it...

there should have been some type of spacers with it that you can put in underneath the car as your installing them...to take out the height...I wouldn't cut them

go to home depot and get spacers. you need 2 for each side. I had the same problem. struts didnt come with all the hardware needed.

If you read the insttructions it tells you to adjust the spacers as you need to so that the hood does not hit it. You can take plato and put it on the hood of the car and then slowly close the hood and check to see for marks in the plato. this way you can check your clearance. The adjustment of the spacers is not hugely important, it just helps the shock be at close to the right position, but as you can tell from the instructions its not the end of the world if its off a little bit.

Yeah, we have the spacers in there, and it is just BARELY clearing it, those things are tall.. Glad to be done with it, though, took longer than expected.

Ya what they said..notice MM gives you both long and short spacers, and shows various combinations for lowered vehicles, stock height, extremely lower, etc. The positioning/use of the different lengths allows the strut to clear the hood for all applications.
