Default **Full PI kit help.. **

I am gettin a PI swap very soon in the near future, It just the question of what route im gonna take, I have two companys im deciding between Big Boy Racing and Parkwayford performance.

Big boy racing comes with aftermarket cams for some extra horsepoewr .510 X .530 and the kit cost 1490$ for everything. Im worried these cams will be junk, is .510 X .530 a rough Idle

link to kit-- http://molly8ca.tripod.com/id16.html

Parkway ford cost 1320 shipped but it comes with stock PI cams,

Am I better off Buying the Parkway Ford kit, selling the stock PI cams and get reliable and trusted VT stage 1 cams

Or should I just get the kit by slowboy racing and save myself the trouble?

also how much more do you think the install will be if the cams are out of the heads?

any experience with this will be help full

thanks for all your help

I'd go with a kit. They're already set up and will usually make the power they claim.I wouldn't depend on selling the stock cams to buy some VT's,who wants to buy stock cams?If you have questions call 'em an'ask. If they don't answer to your liking,go somewhere else.Poor customer service befor the sale is a very bad sign.

He has overhead cams.

I am a little confused here about the cam specs from the big boy racing people. The numbers do not sound like the duration, but rather the lift or something?

If it was me, I would call parkway and see if they have some sort of special without the stock camshafts. They gotta have people ordering the kit and wanting aftermarket camshafts. I betcha they have something worked out. Then order yourself a set of VTs. However, the site says they are backordered until march

How much cash do you have to play with here? Now is the perfect time to get the heads ported and polished. I was quoted between 300 and 900 dollars for porting depending on how far I wanted to go. The port and polish job will really wake up the car. You could be looking at 310 RWHP or more with a port job and stage 2s.

i like your ideas but im kinda on a buget, im lookin at spending about 2500 on this whole deal and that includes instillation,

It could work out price wise, if i just buy the parts seperate used, i mean i can knock off prolly 500$ just doing that, and get the P&P

is Port and polish really worth the extra cash? what will it do to reliability(daily driver)?
does it mess with compression ratios?

thanks

It shouldn't effect the daily driver abilty at all. The difference between the Port and polish and just aftermarket cams is significant. I want to slap my shop for not saying anything about it until AFTER the cam install was finally done (woulda been pretty cheap to do it all at once compared to doing it now).

My shop was promising something along the lines of 310 to 320 RWHP with a port job. Of course they would have to get my tune right.

Also remeber your gonna need a tune in a bad way. And the numbers I am quoting are with a full exuast with LTs and all the rest of the bolt on stuff done.

Just look up "machine shops" in the yellow pages/internet. Almost any good machine shop that deals with automotive should be able to do it.

Thanks for all your input, I have a big decision to make in the near future.

I think im gonna go with Parkway kit and get the VT stage 1's, and depending how much a P&P is gonna cost me I may do that to(hopefully i can find a shop to do it for under 500$).

How much $ can i get for the old parts?

Real quick, after i get this done, will a Diablo Sport or Predator tuner sufice as a safe tune
or is a dyno tune the best route?

haha i still have to recal my speedo to.
