Default Spring Problem.

I was rotating the tires yesterday when i noticed that the drivers side front spring wasnt all the way in the isolater. there was about a 2-3 inch gap where the spring wasnt filling the isolator. The isolator is in the proper place where the old springs were positioned but the spring is not. Im thinking this is the cause of one side of the car sitting lower than the other but what other problems might this cause or be the cause of?
