Default Oil Change

I bought this 02 GT auto 2 months ago. Dealer changed engine oil before I purchased the car, so I have no idea what is in there now. Its time to change the engine oil, any suggestions on what to put in it now. The car has around 41,000 miles on it. It has been tuned with a chip and has a BBK cold air intake. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Tim

You should run synthetic oil. I always use Mobil 1 fully synthetic with a motorcraft filter.

Why "should" he? His driving habits might not warrant needing synth.

If you keep your fuel and air filters clean, and change your oil every 3-4000, you'll have no issues with 5-20 or 5-30 conventional oils. Don't let anyone tell you not to run 5W30 either. It's perfectly fine.

Dont listen to this guy.... He is talking out of his a.ss......

If it says 5w20 THEN USE IT.

And ididnt realizethat synthetic oils were only produced for a car that is ran hard?

If you want it to last longer.... Then use synthetic...

Yes im sure there are hundereds of ifs, ands, buts, and acceptions but if you want your engine to live a long healthy life.... use synthetic. It can only help.

Yes, I make it a habit to talk out of my ***. [>:]

I'm sure I've learned nothing about this subject in my 10 years of leading an engine design team for a highly regarded Ford design source.

Perhaps you could enlighten the rest of us as to why Ford recommends 5W20? Please, share your vast knowledge with us.

Ford recommends 5w-20 for EPA regulations, namely fuel econony and emissions. 5w-30 synthetic can be substituted for 5w-20...just read a few oil specs to see why.

Synthetics will always outperform conventional oils, even crappy synthetics are better than conventional. Only a caveman would think about using conventional oils for something he would like to keep for more than a few thousand miles.

O so your the bastard who gives us these tiny engines?

And it doesnt take someone with vast knowledge to recomend what oil to use...... Dumbass....

If it says 5w20 why go against it? I honestly dont care why Ford recommends it.... They do so i use it...
