So what kind of mods do you need in order to get the best out of the LT?

i put shorties on my 04 when i had it. it was the biggest let down. they took me 12 hrs with a lift too. and the killed low end power, i ended up taking them off anyways.

I put BBK shorties on my 04 while I was rebuilding the motor. I had it out and I was afraid that with as much stuff that I scrape with the lowering springs in that longtubes just would not work. It was easy to do with the motor sitting in the floor though. I was impressed with the power out of the whole set-up I have with shorties.

Header install is alot of work for 1 or 2 hp gain with the shorties. Sell them and get longtubes then the work will be worth it.
Yea, that tubular K sure makes things a lot easier to get to don't it!lol Probably one of the best mods I did.

Long tubes don't always work for every person's Situation people, yes we all know that LT make more HP, but shorties are still better than stock manifold.
Agreed that shorties are better than stock, but i dont understand going through all that work just to put the shorties on. Carlos Longtubes perform well with any mods, obviously a supercharger will benefit more than your typical NA motor.
I will have to disagree! Shorties may flw slightly better but they lose the heat that the stock headers retain to evaporate gases and move them faster down the tubes. Heat helps dissapate the gases and moves them faster. MILD steel shorty headers are a waste of money. It all marketing to take your money! Stainless steel is great as well as a ceramic coated header where stainless isn't available, but mild steel chrome covered junk is useless! Wouldn't even watse my time, besides you can't even see the chrome, so what's the point???...AAHHH MARKETING!!!!!

I installed BBK shorties on my 03'. It was a pain. You will end up having to lift the engine a couple inches to get the pass. side on. As far as the stock manifold studs, you may not have a choice but to remove some of them as you won't be able to manipulate the header into place, a clearance issue. If you live in a state with strict emissions you can't go w/LTs. They won't pass the visual inspection where the guy walks around the car with the little mirror to see if you have cats. He'll see the LTs and fail you. The guys at BBK told me this themselves. I figured why would they lie as a set of LTs are more expensive than shorties. You will become furious during this install, sometimes you can only turn the bolt/nut an eigth of a turn at atime, if that. As far as power, I was happy over stock. With the ceramic shorties and O/F x pipe, super 40 flows got 279hp and 309tq on a chassis dyno.
