OK thanks. I don't know if that could be it, but I have no clue at this point. I'm going to call my mechanic today and see if I can bring it in before I go to work. The V6s and GTs both use the 4R70W.

the OD band going bad is usually from going WOT while in overdrive and holding it in theird at WOT until it shifts. this is why everyone says race with O/D off.. you only have 3 gears, but itll save your transmission. i doubt its the od band since you cant get to 4th without having these problems could be the higher gear bands, but i doubt it.

Yea, see I don't think it is that. I just hope it can last a few weeks until I can take it in. That and driving 100 miles to and from school.

"Then I was behind a slower car, so I gave it some gas to go around...it just revved! Felt like the transmission was completely disconnected. I let off a little and then it dropped down to 3rd. Again no jolt/jerky shift. Just delayed. WTF is going on?"

what gear were you inwhen you gave it somegas to go around?

that is definitely slippingin some gear, it is exactly the same thing that my dad's did. maybe the people onhere diagnosed the problem on his were wrong then. idk.

It was in 4th, then dropped to 3rd. I've been trying to avoid the "slipping" term in my descriptions, but I'm starting to think it could be....

I just remembered that there was a faint burning smell coming from under the car for the last few months. I thought it was just the plastic grocery bag that wrapped and melted itself to my exhaust on the freeway. I scraped most of it off, but that is when the burning smell started. It was pretty much gone the last couple of weeks, unless I drove for an extended period of time and then I could smell it again (just thought it was the exhaust getting hot and heating up that plastic). F*CK!

My limited auto tranny knowledge is with older, non-computer controlled ones (like a 700R4).

My first thought was that it sounds like a valve body problem, possibly a plunger sealing problem or something sticking. I don't think it sounds like a OD band issue since you're getting the early-1st-downshift issue when you're slowing down. It sounds like the trans thinks you're going slower than you are.

Well, got people to cover for me today so I took it in. They hooked it up to the computer and it said :Pressure Regulating Solenoid; Shift Solenoid SSA, SSB; Powertrain Management." Obviously it threw a code, and that was what the definition of the code was.

Well...I need a complete rebuild OR swap in a rebuilt tranny, which I'm probably going to do. Either way it is going to take 3-4 days to rebuild mine, or 3-4 days to locate and install the new one. F*ck. I cannot believe this on a 60k mile car. And couldn't come at a WORSE time.
