Default Carfax says 2 auctions

Just had a carfax run on an 02 GT I'm looking at. The report says that it was sold at auction twice. Should this worry me or is this more common than I think? I guess dealers don't keep trade in's on their own lots much anymore. It's had two owners. No other problems noted in the report.

Sounds like a good deal:

02 GT
21k miles
$17000.00

No body damage, no interior wear, overall, a real clean car. Seems to fall in line with KBB value and has really low miles for an 02.

Get it into the body shop and have them remove the front fenders for you, check the crush panels for any welds or replacements.

Run your fingers around the edges of every seam in the body, around the hood, fenders, bumpers...if you feel any bumps or see any thicker paint than usual, it's been painted.

Usually cars that have been wrecked can't even get sold at auctions, nobody wants to buy a wrecked car, even used car lots.

In January I bought a 02 true blue GT loaded with only 7,800 miles on it for 16,000 in Virginia. One owner and a clean carfax. So you might be able to do better, or maybe I just got a good deal.

i wouldnt go by KKB... call Hibernia and see what the loan value is on it also, cause if the bank is willing to loan 17K for it then thats good.... but 17K sound pretty nice

It sounds like a decent deal. It's not too surprising that it was auctioned twice. That happens. It's hard for a dealer to sell a newer car that has relatively low mileage. Everybody just buys a new one for a few thousand more and get the full warranty (not to say that Ford stands behind their warranties or anything LOL).

Also, in Canada, the ffactory offers considerably cheaper financing on a new car than a used one (because you have to get the used car financing from a financial institution other than Ford credit). Mine was 0% interest for 5 years......a used car was 7% or 8%.
