how much power before boom!
Got a 9psi powerdyne (yes I know...the ba$tard child of superchargers), custom intercooler, 30lb injectors,Pro-M maf, throttle body, plenum, high flow cat x-pype, and flowmasters. Will this be tuneable to 400@ the wheels? also, when does the 4.6 need to have the bottom end beefed up? If it is possible to get 500hpat the motor will i shoot a rod thru my block?

RE: how much power before boom!
I am unsure of whether or not that system is capable of 400 rwhp, it sounds like it could, not my fortier, BUT safe hp numbers are 400ish to the wheels, which translates to 450 hp for the rods, thats when "they go boom." there are people with tunes that run 500 rwhp, but horsepower is just number crunching of torque, which is a killer. NOS for example, safe limit is 125 wet on stock internals. Shoots the torque way up there. I am unsure of numbers for your powerdyne, but I would bet 400-450ish rwhp is about the safe, reliable limit. Hope I helped SOMEWHAT

the upper "safe" limit is 450 WHP. At 450 you can basically bet that before long its going to blow, but your going to be ok for awhile.
I have been at 420 WHP for well over a year now with no problems.

Thanks for the replys...another question or two - how big of a factor is engine mileage,as far as longevity is concerned, with hpapproachingthe engineered limits - in your opinion(s) or experience? Will a motor with 100K milesfail at substantially lower power levels?
Also why do people hate powerdyne? I paid 1/3 the price of the expensive s/c's for a rebuilt almost complete powerdyne kit. $275 for the intercooler and 3" aluminum tubes. Seems to be going fine, a powerdyne employee told me to run it to 11lb if i want. Will a 6lb vortech or similar produce more hp?

RE: how much power before boom!
The older the engine the more opportunity for engine wear and damage. I have seen it the other way around. As long as the engine is well taken care, ie maintenace, it should last a very long time. I have seen motors with 60k that had more wear and tear and sludge and all that good stuff than a motor with 100k. The guy in the 60k car used regular oil and often went over on his intervals, the guy with 100k used synthetic and did routine maintenance on it.
