Clutch cable snapped? Clutch Quadrant?

Clutch cable snapped? Clutch Quadrant?
I went to the track last night and made two runs with my dad in the car. Then I ran another time and got my record run (which still sucked.) On my fourth run, I made it through 1st and 2nd and then couldn't get into third. I tried pushing it into forth and second and it wouldn't go into any of them.
I then released the clutch and pushed it back in. It felt totally different and I couldn't find a catching point anymore. It just went in and felt mushy. Basically I think the pedal is no longer disengaging the clutch.
What did I break? Is it the clutch, quadrant or anything else?
They are all stock if that matters at all. It got towed to the mechanic and will be looked at today probably, but I wanted to get some sort of idea of what is broken.

RE: Clutch cable snapped? Clutch Quadrant?
Well it is a bit hard to miss the "pop/thunk" of a clutch cable completely snapping. But it does sound cable/quadrant related. Maybe the end cap came off the part of the cable that's actually inside the trans/bell housing.

Look under your dash, up near the gas pedal and you should see the quadrant. Look and feel if there is a cable on there. I would upgrade the quadrant anyways the plastic ones Ford built our cars with are crap anyways. It pretty easy, more annoying than anything.
If you just want to replace your cable you should be able to do it by yourself, just pull it out through the firewall, and unhook it from the tranny. Then reinstall the new one, anyone can do it.....good luck
