Default New Hood Idea

I'm thinking about maybe trying to put a 69 Boss 429 Scoop on my Stock 03 GT hood.

It looks like it's about the same basic shape, but....
It's about 2" taller in the rear, and 3" taller in the front.
It's 4-1/2" wider in the front, and about the same in the rear.
The only thing I am afraid of is it's about 13.5" longer, I can pull it back towards the windshield about 3" (1/2 the distance as the stock one) but that still leaves me about 10" too long.

It's only fiberglass so I could probably cut the back to the length I want and redo it.

I guess I need to mock it up in cardboard and see how it will look.

What do you guys think? [&:]

I wish someone out there made the stock hood on the 03-04 GTs functional. I know they have shacker hoods that mock the mach 1. But they seem to small. I think the hood scoop on the GT's are the perfect size and would be so hot if they served the function of ram air. Anyone know of any place?

I had to cut a hole in my hood to fit a strut tower brace... the hole fit under the scoop. I drilled out the grille hexes in the front of my scoop, making it funtional. Now I get more air to cool the blower housing, but I can't say that it really helped anything. I just have the peace of mind that my scoop is funtional, and stealthy.

My Uncle did the same comcept on his 69 vette with a partial 72 big block hood, now he owns the patent and is collecting royalties.

If you already have the hood, try it.

I just found this.... I have seen the ram air shaker scoop. But it always had that ugly cover that you had to put on your hood. It doesnt go well I think, I always wondered if it would work with a mach 1 hood. I found a place where they sell the mach 1 shaker scoop and then you buy a mach 1 hood. It makes it just like the mach 1. How hot, and its ment for GT's!!!!. Check it out!.
