How much power is lost roughly on an engine with high mileage. . . Anyone have any sort of rough calculations. . . My motor is brand new lol but its for a buddy of mine. . .

High mileage cars don;t neccesarily meen less power. I have heard of rumors where cars with miles will make more power than a brand new car due to how it is broken in. It's probably a myth but just make sure the car has good compression.

no thats not a myth its the truth a car with 30k broken in properly will run better times than that of an equal car striaght from the showroom

Yeah thats true. Im talking about friction loss in older cars though. Over time it seems like motors and drivetrain parts occur a lot more of friction loss. I guess its just a matter of hows its broken in and how its maintained.

I don't think there really can be an answer for you. I would say a 2v 4.6 could easily run 150,000+ miles with virtually the same power output from the factory IF it was taken care of well, espcially if it was running full synthetic.

The only way I see you could start loosing power is if you acutally started loosing the seal on the pistion rings etc and lost compression etc. With todays cleaning oils and gasolines I have a hard time seeing buildup etc being any worse at say 150K than 30K.

I guess thats true. The way things are now a days with advanced oil there is virtually no power loss. My GT with 145k before i did the motor ran just as strong as a brand new GT. . . Just needed some educated opinions
